2019-2020 Outstanding Scholars
Antonio Aguilar
With a 4.081 GPA, Antonio Jose Aguilar is graduating valedictorian of his class. He is President of the National Honor Society, a member of Mu Alpha Theta, and a member of the Science National Honor Society. While at FHS, he received the Cross Country Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award. Antonio plans on majoring in Electrical Engineering at Kettering University, where he has been granted the Presidential Scholarship, Honors Scholarship, and the FIRST Robotics Scholarship. Antonio has also received the Elaine and Marion Rumsey Scholarship. He is the son of Jesus and Shannon Aguilar.
Joseph Bemis
Joseph James Bemis is the son of Kenna and James Bemis. Graduating with a 4.069 GPA, Joseph plans to study Packaging Science at Michigan State University. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. Joseph is a member of Flushing Raider Early College and is on the Dean’s List at Mott Community College. Joseph is also an Eagle Scout.
Sierra Smith
The daughter of Sandra Clark and Michael Smith, Sierra Margaret Smith has a 4.068 GPA and will be attending the University of Michigan-Flint, majoring in Green Chemistry. She was awarded the University of Michigan, Flint-True Blue Merit Scholarship. Sierra is a member of the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.
Allison Paschack
Allison Lorraine Paschack is the daughter of Amy and Kevin Paschack. She will graduate with a 4.063 GPA. Allison is Vice President of the National Honor Society, President of the Science National Honor Society, and President of Mu Alpha Theta. Allison received a Certificate of Merit from the Detroit Section of the Society of Women Engineers, as well as the AP Scholar Award from College Board. Allison is planning to attend The College of Wooster where she has been awarded the College Scholar Award. She plans to study Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with a Minor in Spanish.
Natalie Peck
Natalie Violet Peck will attend the University of Michigan-Flint, where she has been awarded the Signature Merit Scholarship. She is planning to study History. At FHS, Natalie had perfect attendance all 4 years. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Natalie is also an International Thespian Society National Honor Thespian as well as an International Thespian Society President List Scholar. She will graduate with a 4.062 GPA. Natalie is the daughter of Karyn and Kenneth Peck.
Lily Zuber
Graduating with a 4.055 GPA, Lily Christina Zuber will attend Michigan State University, where she has been invited to join the MSU Honors College. The daughter of Lisa and Marty Zuber, Lily is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and the Science National Honor Society. She has received the MSU Honors Commended Scholarship. Lily was also the Genesee County Spelling Bee Champion in 2019 and 2020. She has been Class Vice President for 3 years, A Cappella President, and Varsity Quiz Bowl Captain. Lily is also a College Board AP Scholar. She plans to study Social Relations and Policy.
Alona Abufarha
Alona Abufarha will attend The College of Wooster, where she has received the College of Wooster Dean’s Scholarship. With a 4.053 GPA, Alona is a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and President of the Science National Honor Society. She plans to study Neuroscience. Alona is the Class President and the Environmental Action Group President. Alona is the daughter of Abla and Maher Abufarha.
Laynie Braman
Laynie Maleah Braman will attend Grand Valley State University in the fall where she plans to study Political Science. She is the daughter of Lalita Braman, and is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and will graduate with a 4.043 GPA. Laynie has received the Grand Valley Award for Excellence, the Welch Foundation Scholarship, the John F. & Edith L. Wilsterman Scholarship Trust, and the Roberta Reed McWilliams Scholarship Endowment Fund. She also took 1st Place in the Continental Math League and was on the 3rd Place Team in the Mott Community College Math Competition.
John Stockton
John William Stockton is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta and will graduate with a 4.037 GPA. He will attend Kettering University where he has been awarded the Presidential Scholarship, the Honors Program Scholarship, the Kettering Recognizes Excellence Scholarship, as well as the Robert Kagle Scholarship, Welch Foundation Scholarship, The John F. & Edith L. Wilsterman Scholarship Trust, Sovita Credit Union CTE Student of the Month Scholarship, and the Genesee County Association of School Board Members Scholarship. John plans to study Computer Science and Computer Engineering. He was named one of WNEM’s Best & Brightest of 2020. John is also part of FSPA Honors String Quartet and was named Outstanding String Player. He is the son of Susan Stockton and John Stockton.
Josie Willette
Josie Lynn Willette is graduating with a 4.036 GPA. She will attend Michigan State University to study Mathematics (Secondary Education). Josie is the daughter of Rich and Tina Willette. She was awarded the John F. & Edith L. Wilsterman Scholarship Trust, the Flushing High School Alumni Association Scholarship, Roberta Reed McWilliams Scholarship Endowment Fund, the Rebecca Louise Robinson Scholarship, and the Moms Who Care Scholarship. Josie was Varsity Soccer Second Team All League and Metro League Scholar Athlete all 4 years for Varsity Soccer. She placed 1st in the American Math Competition and 3rd in Mott Community College Math Competition. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta.
Cole Dunstan
Cole Richard Dunstan is graduating with a 4.025 GPA. He plans to study Pre-Veterinary Sciences at Michigan State University. Cole has received the Welch Scholarship and the Edgar L. Cornwell Scholarship. Cole is the son of Rich and Kristi Dunstan. He was a 3 year Varsity Scholar Athlete and Captain of the Flushing Raiders Football team his senior year. He placed 2nd in the Continental Math League. While at FHS, Cole was a member of the National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and the Science National Honor Society.
Luke Konzman
Luke Robert Konzman, the son of Robert Konzman and Deanna Konzman, is graduating with a 4.019 GPA. Luke plans on attending Mott Community College to study Biochemistry. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, and Phi Theta Kappa. Luke took 3rd place in the Continental Math League and was on the 3rd place team in the Mott Community College Early Math Competition.
Griffin Hemingway
Griffin James Hemingway is planning to attend the University of Michigan-Flint, where he will study Pre-Med. Griffin will graduate with a 4.017 GPA and has received the University of Michigan-Flint True Blue Merit Scholarship. He took 3rd place in the Mott Community College Math Competition. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Griffin is the son of Kenneth and Melanie Hemingway.
McKenna Hamann
McKenna Leigh Hamann is the daughter of Aaron and Heather Hamann McKenna will attend Mott Community College in the fall where she will study Business Management. She is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. McKenna will graduate with a 4.008 GPA and has received the John F. & Edith L. Wilsterman Scholarship Trust, Carol Jekel Memorial Scholarship, Roberta Reed McWilliams Scholarship Endowment Fund, Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company Merit Scholarship, and the Moms Who Care Scholarship. McKenna is also an Academic All State Student Athlete, Varsity Volleyball Captain, and was named Most Spirited for Varsity Volleyball.
